Crossroads of America Adoption Conference Returns on September 15, 2012

When the Executive Director of MLJ Adoptions, Michele Jackson, decided to hold an adoption conference the MLJ Staff embraced the idea with equal parts excitement and trepidation. With little conference planning experience, the staff set out to plan an event that would educate, energize, and motivate families about the topic so near and dear to their hearts – adoption and placing orphans in forever families. Judging by the evaluations, the first annual Crossroads of America Adoption was an outstanding success.
“It was very organized and helpful for the adoption journey that we are on.”
“Coming away with a wealth of knowledge and meeting people (reps from other countries were great!) We loved learning more about HIV.”
“Everyone was very nice, open & sharing – really appreciated the honest sharing.”
“Extremely friendly staff/volunteers who really seem to have a heart for what they do.”
“Great choice of subjects /sessions covered.”
“Getting a lot of great education that will be useful in present and future.”
“Great sessions! Loved the Affording Adoption session and HIV session. “
“Variety of subjects covered by experienced speakers and having country specific representatives present.”
“Connections with other adoptive families.”
“Very heart-felt/life changing.”
“Many of the speakers imparted wonderful knowledge. Carolyn’s talk about Project Hopeful was so inspiring!”
“Great information! Loved the opportunity to spend time with our program coordinator and with representative from our adoptive country.”
“I’ve made contacts new friends, and have a ton more info to process.
Thank you! Thank you!”
“Volunteers, staff – their hearts were really in it.”
“Friendliness and openness of MLJ staff.”
“How encouraged and informed I was when I left.”
“Thank you!!! We are glad we came and appreciate all the planning and work put into it!”
The MLJ Staff appreciated these kind words about the Crossroads of America Adoption Conference. More importantly, though, the conference inspired eight families to embark on an adoption journey. Two additional families, listened to Carolyn Tweitmayer speak about special needs adoption and chose to follow that path. Given these awe-inspiring results, Crossroads of America Adoption Conference will be back on September 15, 2012. Registration is now open.
